It's Puppy's birthday and Kitty can't seem to do anything right. While Puppy gets a BIG present and a very special birthday breakfast, all Kitty can do is pop the balloons, topple the cake, and cause mayhem...unless, she can learn how to let Puppy have the spotlight.

Kitty's owners are taking a week off and leaving Kitty and Puppy at home with Uncle Murray. It isn't long before Uncle Murray is driven to near madness by shenanigans of epic proportions.

Because of a recent string of embarrassing behavior, Kitty's cat license has been revoked and she must take a test to get it back so she can still be a cat.

When Bad Kitty won't play with him, Poor Puppy has to amuse himself with an alphabetical list of toys and dreams of playing in an alphabetical list of countries.

Author/illustrator Nick Bruel tries to explain to the reader how to write a story, but Bad Kitty is not at all happy about the plot, which has her going on a turnip diet to lose weight. Includes a recipe for roasted turnips.

Kitty is terribly out of shape and when Kitty's owner catches her wheezing, she is told that it is time to exercise, but it will take a lot of convincing and a bit of trickery to get Kitty into the competitive spirit.

Uncle Murray takes Puppy on a walk on a day that Bad Kitty's being unusually difficult, and has several unpleasant encounters with a police officer and one mean dog along the way. Text is interspersed with information about dog behavior, pet care, and more.

Kitty has almost everything a cat could want, everything ... except for a phone! To get a device of such magic and beauty, Kitty must do extra chores around the house for three whole months without complaining. Desperate times call for desperate measures, after all!
